The Halloween Birds are Flying!
Halloween is filled with pumpkins, black cats, witches, and ghouls, but there are plenty of Halloween birds flying around out there too.
Halloween is symbolically connected to the color black, which means that bats, crows, and ravens are winged creatures which just naturally fit ideally into it's theme, while a relatively new brood of Halloween birds on the scene are the bright and colorful angry birds.
Between the spooky scary birds, and the comical goofy ones, Halloween truly has become a squawking, chirping, peeping filled belfry of fluttering feathery wings.
Let's take a peek
at the spooky, the goofy, and the classic,
Winged creatures of Halloween.
Our first featured winged Halloween creature is the bat:
Bats truly are cute in a batty kind of way, they are also the number one Halloween bird too (actually they are mammals that fly but they are winged), which means that people associate bats with Halloween more than they do any other bird. Children's bat costume available in size infant to 4T.
Kind of spooky huh?
The most popular Halloween winged creature is the bat.

Bats are symbolically connected to Halloween and are one of this dark holiday's most popular winged creatures. Although bats have wings, they are not classed as birds, but are often viewed as such.
Bats are black, fly at night, hunt their prey at night, have fangs that drink blood, and on top of all of that they have the spookiest little faces that one could ever imagine. How could we not associate these winged creatures with the Halloween holiday. They are just naturally designed to be a wee little smidge scary.
Now a regular bat is spooky enough, but when you conjure up the image of a vampire bat, then one truly can see how this night flying creature ranks high on the list of Halloween birds.
Images of Count Dracula and other vampires magically transforming into bats to streak off into the night sky in search of their prey, well it is enough to send shivers down any sane person's spine, yikes. The bat is indeed in the top spot when it comes to spooky winged creatures who fly in the Halloween night sky.

Ha - spooky or silly? Halloween bat costume for your pet dog. This Halloween bird costume does not come with flying instructions so unfortunately Fido will have to figure that one out on his own.
Wall decal Halloween bats are great for quickly and easily decorating up the old homestead in a truly spooky context. Peel and stick but the bonus is that they are easily removable once Halloween night is done. Set of 13 bats.

Now this Halloween bat is indeed spooky looking when placed in a strategic location. Buffy is a 9 inch bat with red eyes blinking that flies around in circles. Scary.

What do you think of bats?
The Intelligent Crow
Halloween and Crows
The dark colored crow and raven are classed as Halloween birds, but this bird's black coloring is simply a natural defense to trick predators into believing that their dark shape in a tree is actually a shadow, rather than a meal. These black birds are often associated with death yet their beaks are actually very dull and unable to puncture the thick skin of most animals. Along with consuming a wide assortment of bugs, roadkill is also one of this bird's preferred protein sources, the skin of roadkill is generally already laid open and ready to eat. Yummy.
Halloween crows and ravens:

In keeping with a spooky black night time theme crows and ravens fit into Halloween simply because they are the appropriate color. Of course the crow and raven's inquisitive staring eyes also help to fit them into the spooky Halloween bird category.
Crows will stare intently at a situation, person, or task, until they are able to figure it out. A crow's curious gaze seems to pierce right through your consciousness, giving this Halloween bird a high ranking as an intelligent, yet formidable companion of the night.
As crows and ravens truly are one of the most intelligent bird breeds, it is little wonder that they are often depicted as pets and companions for witches, warlocks, crazed madmen, and other spooky Halloween type characters.
