Introducing the Petting Zu!

May 22, 2012

Introducing the Petting ZuThe Petting Zu is a program designed to help new writers strive for exellence, while setting the bar a little higher on Zujava. No longer will new accounts automatically receive dofollow links. New members will automatically upon registering be in the Petting Zu. To "graduate" from the Petting Zu, all you'll have to do is create three (3) high quality leaves. Then, when you're absolutely sure that you have three or more excellent leaves in your account, you can contact us to review your account and turn all of your links to "dofollow."

Who will the Petting Zu impact?

If you've already been publishing at Zujava, you likely have nothing to worry about. However, accounts with low quality leaves will be subject to the rules of the Petting Zu. That means retroactively, we may find accounts that are low quality and designate their links as nofollow. If you find that your account has been put in the Petting Zu, all you have to do is increase the quality of your leaves and contact support to review your account.

Can you define your criteria for a low quality account?

Low quality is copied content, leaves that are comprised mainly of feeds, and consist of little original, written content. Other "red flags" for a low quality account are an excess of self promotion, outbound linking to the same domain on all leaves in excess for purely self promotional purposes, no bio picture uploaded, leaves consisting of just Amazon sections, overall thin content, and any violation of our content policy (you'll need lots of violations in order for this to happen). In general, we're looking for lots of high quality, original content in order to become a Petting Zu graduate. If you write high quality content, this won't affect you (perhaps in a good way since the best leaves will rise to the top!), and you will be grandfathered in as a Petting Zu graduate.

When do these changes go into effect?

Right now. The changes affect all new members registering, and we will be going back into old accounts to see if they fit the criteria they need to in order to graduate.

How do you graduate from the Petting Zu?

On your dashboard, you'll see a link to request your account to be reviewed. Before you click that, you'll first want to review the Petting Zu leaf, and see if your leaves meet our quality standards. If you feel that they do, go ahead and request for your account to be reviewed. You must have at least three (3) leaves in order for your account to be reviewed, no exceptions.

Why did we start the Petting Zu program?

The Petting Zu is a way for us to help new authors write better content for Zujava that also performs well. It also serves the purpose of keeping the site free of spam, while devaluing any leaves that were written for the sole purpose of self promotion, or consist of low quality content in general.

In essence, this change is to let the great stuff rise to the top, and to give leaves in need of some love some much needed TLC.

Petting Zu Mentors

Would you like to mentor any of the authors currently in the Petting Zu? Stop by the forums and answer questions from those on the road to graduation, or leave some encouraging words on any new member's leaf to give them a little pat on the back.

Who recently graduated from the Petting Zu?

We've put together this list of recent Petting Zu graduates, so you can see who has recently been active on the site. It's a good way to find new authors, too.

Hi, I'm Bill Nihill, and I am a father, husband, artist, writer and Co-Founder of Zujava.com, the best place to share your personal knowledge, passion, and expertise with the entire world (and make money while doing it!) I have a wide range of interests from music (heavy metal, hard rock, classic rock) to cooking to travelling. My wife and I have been lucky to explore the US by car several times - and we are counting down to our next big adventure, but this time we'll have our two daughters along for the adventure (this is sure to be interesting). In my spare time, what little there is, I enjoy working on my oil paintings which I will share here from time to time. And lastly, welcome to Zujava.com -- glad to see you here!

FYI- Some of your 'graduates' don't have any leaves yet. Others have less than 3.

That's because they've been grandfathered in. It's effective today, so accounts going forward will all be in the Petting Zu. They can also be put in the Zu manually.

Oops - corrected that typo. Thanks!

Only members in the Petting Zu will see a message of any sort about the Petting Zu. So, that means you are not in the Petting Zu. We will be adding something soon that makes it clear that you have graduated from the Petting Zu - but that's a surprise.
