What a fun way to begin to learn about frogs!
I caught a Grey Tree Frog on my balcony rail once, and 'adpoted' it inside. It kept getting out of its aquaria and leaping over into my shower, where it would SING at night! I set-up a washcloth terrace for it, and at showertime would turn the water on cool and the frog would climb up the shower wall and perch there whilst I showered. I'd then return the frog to the aquarium.
I kept this frog as a pet for two years before 'returning to the wild' of my backyard. I continued to hear a distinctive Gray Tree Frog song all that spring/early summer... I later learned that Gray Tree frogs can live for several years (I was told perhaps as long as 10 years, but that seems a bit of a stretch) but at any rate, I was surprised at how hearty & easy to care for this frog was... and how UNAFRAID it was of me and being handled! It never once leapt from my hand in fear, but could be 'coaxed' to leap from hand-to-shower curtain sometimes...
Apparently these frogs are sometimes offered in pet stores right along with more 'common' frog pets such as the Whites Tree frog, etc, -which really surprised me.
I love any creature which eats bugs and that category definitely includes frogs. Don't want to touch one but I love em.
