How to Make a Perfect Margarita

Making a Perfect Margarita

There are just about as many recipes for Margaritas as there are people who drink them, but to make a really great margarita you need only a few ingredients and just a little know-how.

The key to making the perfect margarita really comes down to the ratio of tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and sweetener that are combined together. It's really that simple.

Of course, there are one or two other things you should know so that you can make the very best margarita ever - every time.

The Secret of a Great Margarita

It's all in the ingredients

The secret to making a fantastic margarita is to start with the very best ingredients.

Taking the time to use fresh-squeezed lime juice is the most important key to making a margarita that tastes fresh and delicious.  Nothing else will do. Ever.

Investing in premium liquor and liqueurs is also important. If you skimp on the quality, it will definitely show up in the glass when you taste it. The smoother the tequila, the better the margarita.

And I encourage you to create your own homemade simple syrup, it's easy and economical (and after splurging on good quality tequila, you can save a little money by doing so!).

Simple syrup? What's that?

It's simply water and sugar

Making your own simple syrup is a snap and well worth doing.  It's so inexpensive compared to store-bought, it's used in so many drink recipes, it stores for up to 6 months in the refrigerator, and you can use it in dessert recipes as well!  So versatile, so sweet, so yummy!

So how do you make simple syrup? It's simple.

In a medium saucepan combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water. Bring to a just below a boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.

Ooooo... had a yummy margarita the other day that I just had to share :-) Using the same basic recipe above, add 1 ounce of Chambord to the shaker - then mix as always. This margarita is a lovely shade of light pink and oh so delicious!!!
