Monster High Birthday Cakes & Cupcakes

Monster High Birthday Cakes & Cupcake Ideas

As I'm writing this, there are no officially licensed Monster High cake pans, cupcake wrappers, or any cake related decorations (with the exception of candles). But do not fret! There are a million and one ways to make a Monster High cake or cupcakes your birthday girl will love. With the ideas below you'll be able to create a special, one of a kind cake to amaze her and her friends.

Find supplies you'll need, as well as ideas for colors, patterns, and characters you might use when creating Monster High cakes and cupcakes.

Draculaura's Sweet 1600 Birthday Cake

Draculaura's Sweet 1600 Birthday Cake If your birthday girl likes Draculaura this is the perfect idea for a cake. You can recreate the cake that comes with the Monster High Sweet 1600 Draculaura Doll. The picture you see here is from my Stardoll account. They had a special Monster High promotion. Anyway, it gives you a really nice image to work off of. Much better than the little plastic cake that comes with the doll.

It's a three-tier round cake with light pink frosting, dark pink ribbon details, and chocolate icing dripping down the sides of each tier. I happened to find a video of a cake maker working on a similar cake. It's posted below. Her's is only a single layer, and she uses a bit too much chocolate pourable fondant, but you see how it's done. I'm not a fan of the topper she's made, I'd go with just the 3 pink hearts.

Update: Rats! That video has been removed from YouTube. I did find an even better cake video, but this one is in Spanish. The new vid is below.

Monster High Characters and Their Signature Colors

With Monster High there really is no right or wrong when it comes to style. Everyone is freaky fabulous in their own way. You can carry that idea into the birthday cake and come up with a concept based on any of the characters in the show. One way is to choose a color scheme.

I've already talked about Draculaura. I think you can tell her favorite color is pink. She also dresses in pink, black, and white.

Frankie Stein loves black and white stripes. She dresses in blue, black, and white argyle.

Clawdeen Wolf's favorite color is gold. She wears a lot of gold, purple and black.

Cleo de Nile also loves gold. She pairs it with teal and black.

Lagoona Blue's favorite color is ocean blue. She dresses in blue, black and yellow.

Ghoulia Yelps doesn't have a favorite, but she wears a lot of red, black, white and blue.

Thumbnails are from the Monster High 2012 Wall Calendar.

If the birthday girl favors one of the newer ghouls of Monster High; Spectra Vondergeist's color palette includes violet, black and silver. Abbey Bominable is cool in ice blue, pink, and white. Operetta rocks the velvet red, purple, and black. And Howleen Wolf shakes it up in orange, black, and blue. There are other characters too, but those are the main, nice girls.

If she really just loves all of them you can go with the Monster High logo colors. Black, bright pink, and bright blue. White and grey can be included in those as well.

This Monster High 3D centerpiece features Frankie, Lagoona, Draculaura and Clawdeen. It's 11 5/8" wide x 13" high.

If you have no time to bake and decorate a fancy cake, why not use this as a jumbo cake topper. It will fit on top of a 12" round cake. It might take the frosting with it on removal though, so I'd elevate it a bit with toothpicks or balsa wood sticks.

Yup, this is what's up there in the intro photo.

Ha I like the idea of putting a " Happy 1600th birthday" now that is a wonderful way to decorate a cake for a Monster High birthday party (or even for an over the hill party idea as well). Love it.
