Travel America with a Great Guide Book in Hand
I love to travel, and finding the right guide when visiting National Parks across the USA to me, is essential. I could rely on my phone or some general US travel book, but where the best information lies is usually within the confines of a great National Parks book or guide. The following guides are five that I recommend for their detailed information on each park, great photos, and ease of use while planning and on the go.
Point Reyes
Bigger than you think: bring this guide
Point Reyes may not look big on a map, but when you get there, you'll realize that there are enough hiking trails here to keep you busy for days. This map points out some of the best hiking trails, has some excellent photography, and is the perfect companion for your trip (it's not too big in size).
Specatacular Yellowstone National Park - A Photographic Guide
Stunning photos of the Yellowstone region
There's no other way to do Yellowstone justice than through photos. The panoramic, large photos are just the thing to give you an idea of what this amazing National Park is like. If you've been there, you'll appreciate this book even more. It also includes photos of Grand Teton National Park, just around the corner.
The Preferred Way to See the Everglades: Paddling
It's hot, it's humid, and it's full of unusual critters. It's also shallow, making paddling the best way to see the unbelievable scenery, and best of all, the surrounding wildlife. You won't have to look hard at all in the Everglades to see the array of birds, bugs, gators and fish that lurk in the muddy mangroves. If you're lucky, you might even spot a manatee or dolphin in the waters off the Florida coast. This guide will give you some of the preferred routes, along with some recommendations of what to do, bring, and how you can prepare.
The Only Guide You'll Ever Need to Hike Rocky Mountain National Park
Would you take advice from a tour guide who had never been to the place you're going? The same should ring true with your travel literature. The author of this hiking guide has traveled Rocky Mountain National Park extensively, and it shows with the intense detail of this book. Over 30 gleaming reviews later, this book is still an invaluable guide people are recommending, and best of all, it's the perfect size for travel.
The Best Short Hikes in Redwoods National Park
It's the most stunning scenery in Northern California, and some of the oldest growth in the world. Do you really want to risk taking the less impressive route? Plan out your trip using this valuable guide on the best short hikes in Redwoods National Park, a well reviewed and must-have guide for your California trip.
National Parks Monopoly
Great gift idea for National Parks lovers and travelers!
Years back, I gave this as a gift to my nieces. They've learned quite a bit about the country's national parks through this game. The only downside is a game of Monopoly can take a long, long time, so be prepared to dedicate some time to this. On the positive side, this has an excellent collection of parks, photos, and game pieces. The board is nicely illustrated, and they were excited to receive it as a gift. They were 7 and 9 at the time.
National Parks Monopoly is cool. I've bought this and it's a lot of fun! Instead of Park Avenue and the other traditional properties, you'll buy parks like Yosemite and Yellowstone. A great way to learn about the National Parks, too.
