How Can I Make Money Writing?
by katiem2
writers box
First learn to think outside the box a bit, writing as we once knew it is a thing of the past. After all don't you think it's time to stop writing only adding to the pile of work in a draw or closet?  You may as well shred it and stuff it in a box. Written work is meant to be shared and writers are meant to write.  The internet has opened a whole new world of exciting opportunities to us writers. There is a whole new way of doing things. The old phrase, "starving writer" need not apply any more. We're all aware of societies continued dependence on the internet.

Poems and Stories - By: Vincent Koo
Hi everyone, so my name is Vincent and what I'd like to start off with on this site is poetry. I absolutely love poetry and love rhymes (I think they are magical). In this section you will see a diverse number of poems of which I have written for many different reasons. Whether I had experienced something invigorating, heartbreaking, hysterical, or something else; I like to write about it (or sing about it). I hope you enjoy my poetry, thank you!

Why I think College is Important.
by deza23
YOU’RE FIRED! This is what a majority of Americans hear nowadays with the status quo changing from a working industry and labor economy to an educational based economy. I believe that if you attend and graduate collage you will be able to advance in work positions, generate more of an income, and finally live a longer, happier, and a healthier life. Everybody is constantly harassing one another to graduate and obtain a college degree or life will not mean a thing, and they're right.

In the early 1860s, the United States of America found itself torn apart - fighting brother against brother over an issue that challenged the nation's existence.By summer of 1861, Washington DC had become an island with Maryland a slave state to the North and East and Virginia that had seceded to the West and South.  The initial fortifications were thought inadequate and by the end of the war in 1865, the nation's capital was the most fortified city in the world with nearly 70 fortifications complemented by 90 interspersed artillery batteries.

My Heart Belongs To You Jesus
I am the lonely neighbor who lives next door the stranger you met at the store. The soldier in the uniform who waved at you, when the soldier passed you by. The butterfly that you saw fly by and the little bird who landed on your knee. I may even be the bird you hear singing in the bright morning light, to stop by to say good morning, to let you know, I heard your prayers...for I send you these signs because you asked me too. I was the stranger who asked you for a bite to eat and a drink..but you turn me away, acted like you didn't care..you stuck your nose up in the air.
Richard Castle Books - Complete List, Reviews and About the Author

Oh. This is going to get confusing. Because when it comes to Richard Castle and his books, the lines between reality and fiction get extremely convoluted.Richard Castle is a character on the TV show Castle. He's a world-famous author of action thrillers along the lines of James Bond and looking for a new direction for his work. Enter NYPD detective Kate Beckett, who becomes his inspiration for a new female detective character. That's part of the fiction.

FREE Kindle Books
by Zingali

I recently purchased an Amazon Kindle Fire and have noticed a plethora of free books.  I have several nieces and nephews, who are avid readers and I've been adding new books to their Kindle's to get them better prepared for high school.  I am certain that the techniques being used in American high schools are much different than when I was in school.  Several decades ago, teachers would assign "Summer Reading Lists" and we would be given book reading assignments for each semester.

Will Adults Enjoy The Hunger Games?
by Everyday Miracles
Is The Hunger Games for Adults, too?
If you are at all media aware, you've probably heard of The Hunger Games, the phenomenal best selling trilogy by Suzanne Collins and now a major motion picture. Even if you've been paying attention, you might not really know everything that there is to know about the series, and I certainly won't be able to get into everything in one short page. But I would like to give you an idea of what The Hunger Games is, and why I, as an adult in my thirties, really do enjoy it.

What is Dystopian Fiction?
by Everyday Miracles
The first time that I heard the term "dystopian fiction" it was in association with Stephanie Meyers' science fiction novel The Host. I can't honestly recall whether or not it was a book review or not, but I was reading a lot of them at the time. The word had me befuddled and lost.
Is The Hunger Games Trilogy Appropriate for Young Readers?
by Everyday Miracles
The Hunger Games Young Adult Dystopia
With the release of the movie today (March 23rd, 2012), The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins is beginning to get quite a bit of attention. For more than a year the media has been all over the stories, and they've been getting quite a bit of press. Now parents are asking whether or not the books are suitable for their teenaged children to read. Personally, I can't blame them for feeling apprehensive.

Who haven't heard about Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, Frog Prince and others?Less known is work of both brothers who were scholars, linguists and cultural researchers. Collecting fairy tails was only a part of their tremendous job of establishing the foundations of German culture and language.
Julius Caesar: Essays, Book, and Summary

architecture objects- still life -caesars palace- fountain, las vegas
Antony and Brutus both spoke at Caesar's funeral. However, their speeches were quite different than one another.Brutus spoke first, and he thought that by doing so, he would get all of the common people on his side. Although at first he did, by the time Antony had finished his speech, most of the commoners had moved to Antony's side. The reason for this is: that although they both spoke well, Brutus spoke unemotionally and in a very technical way, while Antony spoke to the hearts of the people.
Rapunzel

Rapunzel by Ernst Liebermann
Rapunzel is classic fairy tale most known from (what else) Disney's adaptation titled Tangled. Tangled is a story about a girl with really long hair and a lot of courage. It is also a story about search for freedom and fight against selfish people who want to control everything and everybody.
Cinderella
by Tolovaj
Cinderella by Thomas Sully
Cinderella in its numerous variations is by no doubt one of most popular fairy tales in the world. Several on-line surveys actually showed Cinderella is in number one of all times. It is one of oldest fairy tales but we should of course know there are many known versions. Only Europe knows at least five hundred variations of the same motif: nice vulnerable girl is being exploited by her step mother and step sisters.Well, not exactly. I have read the version where Cinderella is not so nice and naive. She even kills her mother!

If you think people are big on reading then think again! And if you think internet has changed the reading habits of people because now anyone can simply log on to the internet and find millions of articles to read then trust me that’s anything but the truth. Fine internet’s there and people can now post their thoughts in their blogs and write to their hearts content but that doesn’t mean they also have an audience. Things have changed drastically in the last decade or so.
