Ninety per cent of the landlocked Hindu kingdom of Nepal in south central Asia is covered by the Himalayas, the world's tallest mountain range. The world's highest mountain, Everest, rises to 8848 meters along Nepal's northern border with the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China. Nepal is bounded by Sikkim and India in the east and by India in the south and west.
Maldives

The small islands are atolls formed by a gradual build-up of coral, with a layer of soil on the surface. Extensive coral reefs surrounding the islands act as a natural fortification. The hot, humid climate is dominated by two monsoons which bring a rainfall averaging 1500 mm a year.
Bhutan

Known as the Dragon Land (Druk Yul), Bhutan is a small kingdom in the Himalayas. Located between Tibetan China to the north and India to the south, Bhutan lies next to the two other Himalayan kingdoms of Sikkim and Nepal. Rich in culture and traditions, the nation takes pride in its independence although it relies on aid and technical advice from India and the United Nations. The fourth hereditary ruler, King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, succeeded to the throne in 1972 until his abdication in 2006 in favor of his eldest son, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
Karachi

Karachi is the largest city in Pakistan and the former capital of the country. Karachi is situated on the Arabian coast just northwest of the Indus delta. Karachi is almost entirely Muslim, with only about 6% of the population Hindu. The city has an excellent natural harbor and is Pakistan's principal naval base. It constitutes Pakistan's major outlet for the agricultural produce of the Sind and Punjab regions and is the port of entry for Afghanistan.
